Assembled here is a collection of videos that demonstrate the extraordinary tones & features found on the new MESA/Boogie JP~2C™ - John Petrucci Signature Amplifier - starting with John himself providing a Demo of this incredibly exciting new tone tool. Enjoy!

Check out the Demo Video for the new JP~2C™ - John Petrucci Signature Amplifier. In it John demonstrates his use of the channels, modes and features of the JP~2C along with some of the design concepts implemented throughout the R & D process. John’s core settings, used throughout the recording of the new Dream Theater album "The Astonishing" and his intended live-use settings, are also showcased throughout the video.

Quite a few people asked to hear John's JP~2C™ clean sound sample with minimal effects, so… here it is! There's a pinch of the beautiful Bricasti Reverb, but otherwise, this is John's Majesty Guitar, The JP~2C clean channel, and a whole lot of headroom. Many new JP~2C owners love the ultimate clarity, focus and chime that the clean channel offers. This clip is a great example of the detail and massive, sparkling clean headroom on offered.

The SHRED mode in the John Petrucci Signature JP~2C™ is an incredibly useful feature for dialing in cut, edge and detail in modern high gain settings. John explains how and where using this feature can be useful in different heavy rhythm/crunch applications as well as adding additional detail to help solo sounds cut through in a mix. SHRED can tighten intricate rhythm passages in lower registers and on extended range guitars and riffs and it accomplishes this by adding a narrow boost of harmonic content in the treble regions for Ch. 2 & Ch. 3. Shred is assignable to either CH. 2 only or both Ch. 2 & Ch. 3, and it’s also MIDI programmable/controllable.

In September 2014, John Petrucci spent a day at the Mesa factory playing through a wide array of products and rigs for all of us to enjoy. The best part of the day for John was seeing the chassis art for his soon-to-be-designed Signature Amp, the JP~2C™. Mesa Founder and President, Randall Smith, draws all of his chassis dimensions and details in pencil, by hand, and after months of conversations back and forth between John, Randy and the Mesa R & D team about the features, tones and details, John was finally able to see what his future signature amp would look like.

Beyond its massive C+ high gain and impact, the JP~2C also shines for mid-gain rhythm and crunch sounds at lower gain settings as well as delivering the classic vocal and sustaining Mark series solo tones. This playthrough showcases lush harmonic layering that remains even, detailed and crisp for modern rock rhythm sounds, tight punch and attack for palm muted rhythm, tasty clipped clean sounds with the gain and mid cranked in Ch. 1 (with the Tele), and the smooth, soaring Mark IIC+ lead sounds with humbuckers. Oh yeah - and some tasty slide tones with a Gold Top Les Paul and some P-90s.

Take a listen to our own first dialing in of the new JP~2C as MESA Hollywood's Dinesh Lekhraj walks you through a myriad of tones available on this incredibly versatile amplifier. These are but a few of many tonal snapshots that this musical machine is capable of - we're just scratching the surface! There are no limitations, just tonal inspirations.

Monuments guitarist John Browne puts the JP~2C to the test with his Signature Mayones Duvell Qatsi AJNA burst 7 string Baritone. On the song “Garden of Sankhara” from Monuments 2014 album The Amanuensis, the JP~2C delivers tight, accurate low end combined with classic Boogie Mark Series midrange and even-ordered high end harmonics to deliver the original Mark IIC+ crunch and punch and sparkling clean sounds.

MESA Artist Dustie Waring from Between the Buried and Me got a chance to check out one of the first production model JP~2C™ heads while on a tour date in San Francisco, March 21st, 2016.

In this video, we focus on the Ch. 1 for both clean and also the clipped potential of Ch. 1 while using the Mid control to increase gain when the control is set above halfway. Dustie loved the pristine, big headroom nature of the JP~2C™ and made the gain sing and crunch with neck and bridge position pickups with the channel pushed into clip. We also cranked up the reverb for you to hear the lush, tube driven reverb as well as briefly comparing the 60 watt setting versus the 100 watt setting.

Here we go over Ch. 2 & 3 for both Crunch & Solo sounds and make some comparisons between the channels as well as some comparisons with the EQ on & off and the slightly higher gain in Ch. 3 versus Ch. 2. We also demonstrated the “Shred” feature to show how useful it can be to add cut and edge for solos or to tighten up the low end for extended range guitars.

Recorded with Dustie’s Signature PRS 24 with Signature Seymour Duncan pickups and the JP~2C™ head into a 2x12 Rectifier Compact with Celestion Vintage 30s and Jim Dunlop Carbon Copy Bright in the FX Loop. Recorded with a Shure KSM 313 and the CabClone set to Open Back. Blended 45% KSM, 45% CabClone and 10% room mic.

Guitarist Angel Vivaldi made great efforts to get to Petaluma to play for us through the new JP~2C™ and his new White Vinyl/Grille 4x12 Rectifier Standard cabs.

The song “…__” from his 2014 release Away With Words Part 1 features the JP~2C™ for both Ch. 2 Rhythm and Ch. 3 Lead sounds, as well as brief intro with Ch. 1 Clean sounds. Angel showcases the smooth, singing and sustaining single-note sounds the JP~2C™ can deliver while also highlighting the tight, percussive rhythm gain sounds the Mark IIC+ circuit is so renowned for.

Played through an Ibanez RG7 with Dimarzio PAF7 and Air Norton 7 pickups into the JP~2C™ and a 4x12 Standard Rectifier 4x12. Mic’d with a Shure KSM 313, SM57 and the CabClone on the JP-2C. Mixed 40% KSM, 35% SM57 and 25% CabClone.
